Cemetery Restoration Initiative
The MCHPP Cemetery Restoration Initiative is a program designed to connect property owners with descendants, resources and volunteers to restore, protect, and preserve our local cemeteries. Macon County has over 450 known cemeteries within its borders; with only about 8% being managed, upkept, and maintained by local organizations, churches, or government authorities. The goal of this program is to further preservation of abandoned cemeteries and bring back the dignity and respect that those interred deserve.
